cattery layout

All cats coming into the cattery must be vaccinated against cat flu and feline infectious enteritis, this should be done at least 2 weeks prior to the cat coming in. When the cat is vaccinated, ask the vet for a vaccination certificate, this should be bought to the cattery when the cat is dropped off, as we are required to see it.  Inside the cattery, there are individual pens of 3 different sizes. There is also a main kitchen area. The largest of the pens is suited to 3 cats sharing, the medium pens are designed for 2 cats sharing, and the smaller of the pens are for single cats. The cattery is heated by an electric heater. Cats will also be supplied with a heat pad in their beds

Each cat is supplied with the following

In each individual cattery, there will be 1 or 2 litter trays (depending on the number of cats sharing); 1 feed bowl and 1 water bowl per cat, 1 bed per cat, and a choice of various cat toys. It may help your cat to settle into the cattery if the owner provides something that smells of home, this will also be put in the cattery with the cat.

Daily routine

The cattery is sited on the farm where the owners live, so there is always someone around to look after the cats. Cats are checked on at least 3 times a day. They are fed their normal diet twice a day. In the mornings, cats are fed at 8.00am, catteries are cleaned thoroughly, litter trays, and all bowls are washed. Also, after the cats have left, the cattery is cleaned thoroughly with disenfectant. The cats will be fed again at 5.00pm
